  • This wasn’t my greatest run at all. I was operating on very little sleep (got home from Dallas at midnight) and had been fighting a cold all week.
  • I arrived at the starting point about 15 minutes after the group had left. I found a fellow Red who had also shown up late, and we took off trying to catch up with the larger group. Starting the run at such a faster-than-usual pace was a mistake. I shouldn’t have focused so much on catching up with the group. I ran out of gas between mile 9 and 10, and essentially walked the last mile back to the Park. My legs felt heavy, and it felt like I was pushing my way through thick gel. bleh. On the bright side, those first 8 miles were great……and we did catch up with everyone else. heh.
  • It was also VERY COLD that morning, but the only part of me that was uncomfortable were my hands. During the run, I kept thinking about the pair of gloves sitting in the backseat of my car.
  • I consider this a “lessons learned” run: Don’t start off a long run trying to catch up with people 15 minutes ahead of you. Get enough sleep the night before. Eat breakfast. Wear gloves on cold mornings.

Oh well. Onwards and upwards! (or whatever it is they say)
