Saw Narnia tonight, even though it ranked very low on my “Movies to See” list. Before Syriana, the theater played one of those video commercial/ads with the minister of a local megamall church pushing the movie. That turned me off.
So, when the idea of seeing Narnia came up, I was less than enthusiastic….but I was outvoted and one of the goals of the evening was checking out a new movie theater.
The movie was better than I expected. Yeah, there were some jesus themes, but I didn’t notice too much thanks to two recurring themes: Tilda Swinton’s fabulous costumes and the division of good/evil forest creatures.
The Queen of Narnia was the best thing about the movie because of Tilda Swinton and her fabulous clothes. In every new scene, she’d show up in a different, wonderfully crazy looking dress. Like a Madonna concert. My favorite was her battle costume. Rawr!

As for the good/evil forest creatures in Narnia, here’s what we know….
GOOD animals are:
BAD animals are:
What makes an animal good or evil? And why are cows evil? They’re such gentle, mellow creatures. I love cows. And polar bears - why? They’re cute, furry and they drink Coke. And what about penguins? Would they be good or evil?
These are really important questions.

OMG, you are so right, Tilda Swinton completely ROCKED in that movie. Her outfits were soooo kick ass.
I’m glad that someone else shared my opinion, because that was my overwhelming impression upon leaving as well — I went back and saw it a 2nd time with my mom just to see all her costumes again. I think my favorite was the one she wore at the stone table with all the fire. Though the battle dress was awesome as well.
i agree 100%!! I do think Polar Bears are scary- but I may be watching too much Lost.
