of random thoughts and pickled cabbage
This morning, I saw a woodpecker drilling the hell out of a pine tree. He was going to town on the tree, and sheets of pine bark were falling to the ground below.  I snapped this picture on maximum zoom level, but still had to blow the photo up even more on my computer in order to make him out.Â

But remember woodpecker: “When he leaves us in the morning, will the earth fall away from under his feet? Will the sun, shining on all else, withhold light and warmth from him? Will water turn to mud when he stops to drink? If sun, and earth, and water refrain from judgment, who am I to withhold a blanket and a bowl of rice?”
Those little guys are like Woody Woodpecker. I once saw one next door to my house hammering away on a dead pine tree, bark crashing to the ground.
