After several weeks of ongoing frustration, my archive links are fixed thanks to the smarties at groovehouse.org and sketkar’s world.  Thanks guys!

The Problem:

Clicking on my archives links would take me to a basic directory listing of the blog entries for that month, completely stripped of the template and page style.  I figured I had imported my old Blogger content incorrectly, since I suddenly had all these .php archive files in my root directory.  I tried going back over my import process to figure out where I went wrong - but I couldn’t figure it out.  This made me grumpy.

The Solution:

  1. Based on groovehouse.org’s advice, I reinstalled Wordpress 2.0.1 into a subfolder to rerun the Blogger import and figure out where the archives are placed in the folder hierarchies.
  2. I reimported my Blogger content, and discovered that no archives files or directories were created in the process.  I took this to mean WP didn’t create archive folders, and that the existing ones were leftovers from my old Blogger days.
  3. Going back to my working Wordpress directory, I deleted all the Archives files/folders.  Then, as sketkar suggested, I reset my permalinks…..and voila! Working archives!
