Ok. 

I went out on the patio with a broom and waved it threateningly at the tree where the bird is sitting.  It worked.  I even whacked a few branches with the broom to let the bird know who’s in charge. 

That was 2 minutes ago and I’m back in bed.  

The bird has started singing again.
