of random thoughts and pickled cabbage
I’m going to San Francisco this weekend to run the Bay to Breakers 12K with Luna. This is the infamous race where some runners wear costumes, some runners wear normal clothes…..and some runners wear nothing at all. Yes, I’m in the ‘normal clothes’ category.
I’m really excited - this is going to be a really fun race. For example, there’s a contingent of people who dress up as salmon and run “upstream” in the race, against the current of runners. Hilarious. If I lived in SF, I’d totally be a Salmon.
John has run this race, and he’s been telling me horror stories about the hills along the course. I hate hills. Last night, we ran the Allen Parkway loop and threw in some mini hill work at the end. Everytime I reach the top of a hill, I automatically mutter, “I fuckin’ hate hills.” I can’t stop. It’s like a reflex.
Woohoo…..San Fran!

I ran it in 2002. The hills are really not that bad. Sure, there is one HUGE typical SF hill — Hayes Street — but the last few miles are mostly downhill through Golden Gate Park.
SO jealous that you are running it, I want to go back and do it again sometime!!
sounds so fun! With all of the “sights” I’m sure those hills will fly by!
Hills or no hills, San Francisco is a great running town. If you have anything left, might a suggest a run along the Golden Gate Bridge.
