I’ve gotten lazy about posting my runs/workouts.
Location: Allen Parkway
Distance: ~3.5?
Time: 44:16
Pace: 12:38
- Met John again for another run. It was hot, but not as bad as I expected it to be. We started at 6:45pm, crossed the Jackson Hill bridge and then headed east along Memorial.  John’s calf was injured from Tuesday’s mini-hill workout, so we took it easy.
- Although we took it easy, tonight was a good run. Tuesday’s run was good, too. I’ve been tweaking my usual workout routine - adding more bike time at the gym and 1-2 extra days for strength training. The yoga classes are also helping with flexibility. Plus, I’m trying to clean up my diet again. I think the extra biking is helping the most - I’ve noticed that I run better the day after spending time on the (stationary) bike, though not sure why.  I do have to stop the late-morning runs for the Summer…..I’ve started a few runs at 10am or 11am, and couldn’t last for more than 30 minutes because of the heat.Â
- The recent improvements to the Buffalo Bayou paths have paid off, especially around Sabine St. It wasn’t too crowded, but there was a nice mix of runners, bikers, walkers and people playing with their dogs. And the view of the downtown skyline at sunset is beautiful.
- John’s calf started hurting so we ended the run early. Instead of turning at Shepherd, we crossed at Waugh and headed back to the Jackson Hill bridge. I’m guessing we covered about 3.5 miles, which was good enough for me tonight. Tomorrow, back to the gym.
