Finally, my marathon race report is fixed and reposted. Migrating from Blogger to Wordpress screwed up the formatting of lots of posts - and that one in particular. Snippets of html got plugged into the code randomly, and there were all these unclosed tags so random sentences and paragraphs would be bolded, or italicized, or converted into a link (pointing nowhere, I might add). Anyways, it drove me crazy trying to fix it back in March, so I shoved it into my drafts folder and ignored it for three months. I had some unexpected free time today, so I decided to get the damn thing fixed.

Last night was the final leg of the annual Tour de Bayou series, coordinated by HARRA and Runsport. Yesterday’s course was approximately 5 miles along the Ho Chi Minh trail in Memorial Park. I think it took us 70 minutes (we were about halfway through the course before I realized I hadn’t turned on my watch. great.)
This was my first year doing the Tour de Bayou. This year’s series consisted of five races held on consecutive Tuesdays from April 4th to May 2nd. Each week was a new course location, but it seems all the courses shared certain components:

I’m exhausted, sunburned and still bloated from one-too-many bowls of Crawfish Monica…..but had another fantastic weekend at this year’s Jazz Fest.
The weekend was filled with delicious food, exploring Frenchman Street - and of course, lots of excellent music. We caught some of the “headline” acts like Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews, The Iguanas, Bruce Springsteen and The Meters…..but also lots of great local and ”not as famous” musicians. One of my favorite things about Jazz Fest is that no matter where you turn, you’ll find great music.
It was also my first post-Katrina visit to New Orleans. Although the areas of the City we travel through were relatively undamaged compared to other parts, we still saw a number of destroyed homes, white FEMA trailers and [justified] anger towards FEMA and Dubya.
