The other day, I received this email:
Yippee!
Violet has invited Blossom to join the Catster Group called Flower Felines!
Here is the group’s welcome introduction:
Welcome to the Flower Felines Group!  We’d like you to join all your feline friends that have those beautiful flowering names.  We’re the garden variety, so there will be lots of fun — come join us!Here is the group’s description:
We’re the Garden Variety with Flowerful NamesHere is the group’s tagline:
Bloom Where You Are Planted!Â
Of course, Blossom accepted the invitation. How can you say no when a stranger’s cat emails your cat an invitation to join an online group for cats with flower-related names?Â
Scary? Yes. Hilarious? Definitely.

[photopress:fried.jpg, full, alignleft]It’s been a busy, stressful week at work. Stayed at the office the past two nights till 9 and 10pm. In an attempt at self-guided art therapy, I’ve created an expression of my current state of fried-ness. Like it? Yeah, I know you do. MOMA, here I come.
I made a new friend this week - a Starbucks grande rasberry soy latte. Soy cuz it’s non-dairy, rasberry cuz it’s sweet, grande cuz it comes with (count ‘em) two shots of espresso and Starbucks cuz there are (count ‘em) three drive-thru locations on my way to work. Those lattes have helped me through some long nights at the office though the rasberry syrup makes them turn pink.
Last night I didn’t leave work till 10pm, and missed another SMARTie run in the Park.Â
bleh. My gym was closed, though I was too tired to have managed anything anyways.
On Monday, Alicia, Marilyn & I tried out a hatha yoga class at Your Body Center in Montrose. The space was nice, but since I didn’t know all the different yoga positions (down dog?) it was difficult to keep up. The instructor said the class could accomodate beginners, but it was clearly for intermediate yoga-ers. We’re gonna try the class again on Monday, but also shop around for other places.

Ok.Â
I went out on the patio with a broom and waved it threateningly at the tree where the bird is sitting. It worked. I even whacked a few branches with the broom to let the bird know who’s in charge.Â
That was 2 minutes ago and I’m back in bed. Â
The bird has started singing again.

It’s 12:53am, and a bird’s been singing and chirping outside my window for the past 30 minutes.Â
I’m getting ready to throw a rock at it.Â

[photopress:metroblogging.jpg, thumb, alignleft]This week, I became one of the contributing bloggers for Metroblogging Houston, which is part of a network of more than 40 city-specific blogs where people write about daily life, events, happenings, etc in their cities. Kinda like a kinder, gentler Craiglist, I guess, except without all the snark.Â

Following my most recent cockroach encounter, this method promises a low level of interaction (always a plus where roaches are concerned): Â
1. Shut closet door.
2. Stuff towel under door.
3. Leave door closed for one week.
Following these steps basically entombs the roach, thus starving it to death. Always a plus where roaches are concerned.
