youtube and the return of poke

I discovered the wonderful world of YouTube recently, and I’m hooked. Tonight, I made the addiction official by creating my own YouTube account and profile. Now there’s no turning back.

I’ve spent hours on YouTube watching Korean music videos, funny animal videos, and other random stuff. It’s funny how a few minutes of grainy, fuzzy video can be so incredibly entertaining. A few weeks ago, I spent several hours watching videos of supposed ghost sightings - basically people recording shadows with their cellphones, then screaming and running around. Stupid, yet highly entertaining.

I only have a few videos of my own, one of which is the poke video. whee!

Description: Kirby, my brother’s cat, had been staying with me one summer. One of Kirby’s stranger habits was lying spread eagle in various conspicuous spots for extended periods of time. Sometimes she’d remain motionless in one spot for so long, I’d start poking her for signs of life.

    1) Hot, rich, younger men love fat, older vulgar women.

    2) If you have a best guy friend, he is in love with you. And secretly you are too.

    3) You and your boyfriend will always playfully chase each other on an ice rink, at the beach, or in the leaves. And you’ll laugh for no reason and your boyfriend will hit you “playfully” but the force of his push will have you flying across the room. But it’s okay. Cuz you’re still laughing like a crazy person.

    4) Brothers/cousin/uncles-newphews will always love the same girl.

    seoul.jpg

Well, I’m back in the States, and trying really hard not to be depressed about it.  Seoul was wonderful.  I’m already scheming a return (more on that later).

I didn’t blog as much as I’d planned.  Two weeks is a short visit, so the days were crammed full.  Virtually all of our time was spent visiting , and taking care of grandma.  She’s in the beginning stages of alzheimers, so she swung back and forth between complete lucidity to asking who we were.  She can’t walk on her own, although she tries to, so someone had to be with her at all times.  And now she has heart failure.  So, it was a wonderful and meaningful two weeks, but blogging wasn’t something I was in the mood for.  Plus, I never got a chance to hang out with Elaine (booo!).  Anyways, here’s a summary of the Korea visit….

I got cut off during that last post.  Anyways, it’s our last day in Cheonan - my aunts left to pick up my grandma, and my mom’s passed out on the bed.  I think I’ve gained 10lbs in the past few days - somehow my aunt thinks that “no, I’m really too full to eat that” means “Oh, yes, please give me a double serving AGAIN.”   We’re going back to Seoul later today - as much as I love the country, I’ll be glad to get back to the metropolis.  I’m such a big city person.

Went for another run this morning, and took lots of pictures.  I’m having trouble uploading them on my aunt’s computer, so I’ll post them when I’m back in Seoul.

I can’t believe we’ve only been in Korea for 3 days.  We’ve been staying in Cheonan (a couple hours west of Seoul) for the past 2 days at my dad’s oldest sister’s house.  It’s beautiful here - her house is in the hills, and she has a huge garden with squash, chili peppers, lettuce, asian pears and dates.  It seems lots of retired couples move here from Seoul.  The weather is crisp and a bit chilly - I went for a run this morning, and it was soo peaceful.  My route was a winding road up the mountain, next to rice fields and apple and persimmon trees.
